Microblog 7: Things are getting a little creepy
I'd like to begin by saying that Holmes is a horrible person.
Every 20 pages he seems to have a new wife, a new name, and a new story for them to believe. Watching so many people being lured to their deaths by a single person has made me want to look into Holmes. He says that he is aroused by the screams of the women he kills which, first of all, is absolutely disturbing, but also the way he says it in his mind seems to deeply contrast his outward appearance. For instance, he will make a remark like the one above that seems to generalize the women he meets, but then will make one of his victims feel as though he genuinely cares about them. When a sister of one of Holmes' wives decides to come to his apartment to see them out of skepticism, she says that "Harry listened to the story of her journey from Texas with an attentiveness that made her feel as if she were alone with him in the carriage" (Larson 264). His ability to fake a connection with his victims is something that allows him to have to many, but it is also why scientists have looked back on him as a psychopath.
Ugh, how many more women are gonna die before SOMEONE realizes that women are disappearing from his hotel? I guess we will find out...
